Today’s technological advancements have made it easy to hold meetings and events online. These tech tools allow you to stay in the office or in your home and still meet with people face to face. However, there are times when travel is necessary. Therefore, these are some business travel tips.
Pack Purposefully
When you travel for business, you live out of a suitcase, but you still must look professional during your trip. Therefore, you need to pack your bag carefully. First, place your heavy items near the wheels of your suitcase to improve maneuverability. This includes an extra pair of shoes. Place your folded shirts in dry cleaning bags and hang them near the shower as soon as you check into your hotel. Your cleaning bag should be positioned between your pants or skirts and inside-out blazers. Roll your undergarments into your blazer sleeves.
Pack One Carryon Only
Do not trust your luggage to baggage claim. It may be inconvenient, but you don’t have to waste time in baggage claim and there is little chance that your luggage will be lost.
Pack Your Laptop Bag Properly
Your toiletries should be packed into your laptop bag because you will have to show them to airport security. In addition, add your smartphone, tablet, and any backup chargers you have. Don’t forget to pack a snack and something to freshen your breath, such as mints.
Also, bring hard copies of your documents and presentation notes. You can include your ID, bank cards, and passport if you don’t carry a purse. They should be in the same location and easily retrievable. Include your boarding pass, itinerary, reservation documents, and an emergency contact list.
You should also have scanned or saved documents uploaded to your cloud.
Use Your Time Effectively
Traveling likely gives you several hours of downtime. However, you should make good use of this time. Check for those in your network or family that you can visit while you are traveling. Listen to audiobooks or read articles or eBooks. Enjoy your time away, including your delays and distractions, and take some time for leisure activities.
Take Advantage of Loyalty Programs
If you travel frequently, enroll in loyalty programs. As your status increases, you can save money and gain better service, including priority check-ins. You may even receive upgrades. You can also save time and enjoy airport lounges while you wait for your flight.
Traveling can be stressful, but if you are well prepared and have the right mindset, you can enjoy your business travel.
